HYDROLOGIC AND CRYOSPHERIC PROCESSES IN MOUNTAIN AND POLAR REGIONS

CGU-CGRG Joint Meeting: "Canadian Geophysical Sciences: Present and
Future"
10-14 May, 2008, Banff Park Lodge

HYDROLOGIC AND CRYOSPHERIC PROCESSES IN MOUNTAIN AND POLAR REGIONS

Canada's cold regions (alpine, Arctic, subarctic) have unique
geophysical and geomorphological characteristics that significantly
affect the regional hydrologic cycle. In order to reach an integrated
understanding of cold regions hydrology, this session will bring
together studies of glaciers, snow, frozen soil, and related
hydrologic and cryospheric processes. A range of research approaches
are welcomed, from field-based process studies to remote sensing and
numerical simulations.

Invited speaker: Dennis Lettenmaier, Land Surface Hydrology Research
Group, University of Washington

Conveners: M. Hayashi & S. Marshall, Dept. of Geography, University of
Calgary; S. Boon, Dept. of Geography, University of Lethbridge

Submit abstracts electronically via the conference website (http://ucalgary.ca/~cguconf/

) before February 15, 2008.

Student presentations are welcomed - students are encouraged to apply
for a Student Travel Grant when submitting an abstract.
