Svalbard Field Grants

ARCTIC FIELD GRANT (Arktisstipend)
The Svalbard Science Forum, in cooperation with the Norwegian Polar Institute, will award the following Arctic Fieldwork Grants in connection with research projects on Svalbard in 2009:

1. Grants to master's and doctoral students who are registered at Norwegian universities. Funding will cover supplementary costs in connection with data acquisition for master's and doctoral projects based on Svalbard.

2. Grants to researchers from Norwegian research institutions. Funding will cover supplementary costs in connection with data acquisition for projects based on Svalbard. Priority will be given to applications from research institutions and groups that are not already established on Svalbard. Applications must show that key researchers in the project are dependent on the grant in order to participate.

The grants are awarded to specific individuals, and funding may not be sought on behalf of other researchers or students.
The application deadline is 20 November 2008 at 4:00 pm. Applications received after the deadline will be rejected. Notification of the outcome of the application review process is expected to be sent out in January 2009.
The application form and guidelines for grant allocation are available on the Svalbard Science Forum's website: http://www.ssf.npolar.no/pages/arktisstipend.htm.
